Richard Ogden, Ph.D.

Senior Counselor

Dr. Richard Ogden is a Senior Counselor with Hyde Park Communications, providing strategic counsel to pharmaceutical and medical companies in the areas of clinical and scientific communication in the area of infectious diseases, with a specialty in HIV/AIDS and in Oncology.  As a researcher, Dr. Ogden has worked on the development of novel strategies for combating HIV/AIDS and cancer. He also serves as a member of the scientific advisory boards of several biotechnology companies, and consults for the International AIDS Society. 

Dr. Ogden previously worked at Pfizer Inc, where he was involved with the company's HIV/AIDS medical education programs in the US. He also worked closely in assisting the efforts of the corporate philanthropy group in their support of the Academic Alliance for AIDS Care and Prevention in Africa. He also represented Pfizer at such organizations as the World Economic Forum and the Global Business Council on HIV/AIDS issues. 

Prior to joining Pfizer, Dr. Ogden was a founding scientist at Agouron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he worked on several oncology and viral drug discovery projects. He was a team member in the project which led to the discovery and development of the HIV protease inhibitor Nelfinavir (Viracept®). 

In addition to authoring numerous publications, Dr. Ogden is co-editor, with Charles Flexner, on a book on protease inhibitors in AIDS therapy, and with Gail Skowron, on a book on reverse transcriptase inhibitors in AIDS therapy.

Dr. Ogden received his bachelor's degree in natural sciences and doctorate in synthetic organic chemistry from Cambridge University.
