Jeffrey Sandman is CEO of Hyde Park Communications, one of the leading independent public relations firms in the U.S.

Mr. Sandman, an attorney, has represented Fortune 500 companies and private firms in the pharmaceutical, health care, financial, and plastics industries. He also counseled major foundations, trade associations, unions, and nonprofit organizations on a variety of issues, positioning programs, crisis communications, special situations, and marketing campaigns. He has significant experience in litigation communications, government relations and regulatory affairs. His clients include Pfizer Inc, Johnson & Johnson, Hoffmann-La Roche, NECA, the Screen Actors Guild, the Brennan Center for Justice and Oral Health America.

His hands-on approach to providing strategic counsel to senior executives has helped provide strong results for clients on major issues and media campaigns dealing with HIV/AIDS, Medicare, drug importation, disparities in health care, intellectual property, philanthropic programs and class action lawsuits.

Before founding the firm in 2000, he was Managing Partner of Nelson Public Relations, now part of Publicis, where he advised Pfizer, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Hoffmann-LaRoche on strategic communications and marketing programs on a variety of products and initiatives. Mr. Sandman also helped direct efforts for the release of the seminal Institute of Medicine's report on medical errors, "To Err Is Human." He also developed and implemented branding and positioning programs for Bristol-Myers Squibb; Community Health Charities, the largest health federation in the country, and the Natural Resources Defense Council. His other major clients included the International Bottled Water Association, the Pfizer Foundation, and the Soros Foundation.

Previously, Mr. Sandman was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of The Kamber Group, then one of the largest independent public relations companies in the U.S. At Kamber, his noteworthy assignments included directing programs pertaining to a multi-billion dollar product liability suit, strategic counsel relating to governmental and criminal investigations, marketing new products, positioning programs, and crisis management. His clients included American Home Products, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Drexel Burnham Lambert, the Polystyrene Packaging Counsel, and the United Food and Commercial Workers.

Mr. Sandman practiced intellectual property law and litigation at the Los Angeles firm of Loeb and Loeb and at Baker & Hostetler in Washington, DC. Earlier in his career, he was on the issues staff of Senator Edward Kennedy's presidential campaign. Mr. Sandman's articles on public policy issues and politics have appeared in numerous publications.

He attended the University of Warwick, holds a B.A. magna cum laude in political science from Queens College, an M.P.A. with honors from the Wagner School, New York University, and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was Senior Editor of Law and Policy in International Business. He is a member of the California, District of Columbia, and U.S. Supreme Court bars.

Mr. Sandman is a member of the Board of Directors of the Wilson Center for Public Research. He is also a member of the Dean's Circle at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
